The West Virginia Academy of Eye Physicians & Surgeons is a statewide non-profit organization comprised of medical doctors who advocate the best quality eye care for patients through education, legislative efforts and public awareness. They specialize in reducing disease and blindness through prevention, early detection and treatment. When optometrists – who are not licensed physicians and surgeons -- proposed changing state law to allow them to perform laser eye surgery, the Academy called on Jack Canfield, LLC. We helped prepare a statewide informational effort that set for their arguments in favor of patient safety. Due in large part to effective arguments in favor of patient safety, large numbers of West Virginians contacted their legislators and the ophthalmologists prevailed.
